CAS Hosts Student Conference in Los Angeles, CA
The Casualty Actuarial Society hosted 25 students in Los Angeles, California at the CAS Annual Meeting for a one-day Student Conference. The event provided a unique platform for students to connect with seasoned professionals in the field, delve into the latest developments in the CAS and P&C industry, and participate in Quick Byte sessions covering topics such as email security, cloud computing, and continuous data storytelling.
Participants represented 14 universities, including students from local actuarial programs, as well as others who flew in for the event. Among the attendees were three of the 2023 CAS Trust Scholarship recipients who participated in the overall conference in celebration of their outstanding achievements, and two CAS Student Central Summer Program Scholars who are part of a new pilot for Summer Program standouts!
When reflecting on their experiences, students overwhelmingly expressed appreciation for the networking opportunities with mentors and the chance to connect with fellow students. One student shared, “The entire experience was nothing short of amazing. I had a fantastic time, made wonderful new friends, and established numerous connections with both seasoned actuarial professionals and my fellow student peers”.
A special thank you to Verisk for sponsoring the Student Conference and to all of our amazing volunteer mentors who went above and beyond to foster meaningful connections with the students.
Looking ahead, CAS Student Central members are invited to join us at the 2024 CAS Spring Meeting Student Conference on May 7 in Atlanta, GA. More details to be shared in the new year.
